After reviewing the bids received, JGL advised SCH that the terms offered were not competitive with the current market and made the very unusual recommendation that SCH restart the RFP process.

The Norton Museum of Art recently underwent an $84 million expansion designed by Foster and Partners. The Norton retained JGL to assess their existing food service and venue rental operations. The assessment provided the organization with the tools to develop a business plan that supports increased earned income opportunities. JGL managed the RFP process in which the Museum selected their exclusive partner to run both their new restaurant and catering operations.

The Peabody Essex Museum recently underwent a major multimillion dollar renovation. JGL was retained to do an assessment followed by an RFP. The RFP process was unique as the Museum was interested in exploring a variety of models for food service operations. JGL developed an RFP that allowed bidders to submit for one of three options; exclusive caterer and café operator, one of the preferred caterers, or finally café operator and preferred caterer. JGL believes that every process should be evaluated on an individual basis…every project is unique!

The Asian Art Museum is undergoing a $90 million expansion project that will add gallery space, a rooftop Art Terrace, and additional public spaces. The museum engaged JGL in 2014 to assess the current food service operations, with an eye toward fulfilling the promise of an expanded museum. Like other attractions across the country, the museum sought to develop a food service amenity that not only complemented the overall museum experience, but also served as a destination itself. JGL determined a restaurateur with an existing name would be the best match and went to work.
